OfflineFirstly the mts/m2ts problem
I found that I can import mts files into Cinegobs using "import using Avisynth"
(although I had to change the extension to m2ts first – having read that they were the same)
a few days ago this worked perfectly fine
but now I get a severe horizontal "ghosting" effect on the preview
I've tried re-installing both Cinegobs and Avisynth but it's still the same – so would welcome any help there
My main problem now is about aspect ratio
I decided to reduce the resolution of my 1440x1080 mts files to 720x576 – mainly because Cinegobs worked a bit quicker – but also I don't actually need any higher for my project
I used "Format Factory" to convert the mts files into avi 720x576 – but the result was a black band top and bottom
after much trial and error and investigation I found that the problem seemed to be the "pixel aspect ratio" – the mts files are listed in my Serif x5 media screen as having a 1.333 pixel aspect ratio - but the converted avi files were 1.0
Again after much trial and error and investigation – I found that I could solve this problem by setting the output in Format Factory to 720x540 "fully expand"
hooray – now I have AVI files with exactly the same aspect as the original mts (720x540 with pixel aspect ratio of 1.333) – with NO black bands
However after all this – I find that when loading into Cinegobs the aspect gets "squeezed" to a square frame – aaarrrghhh
I assume this is because Cinegobs just defaults to square pixels??
I seem to be getting endless problems here – If anybody can put me on the right track I'd be very grateful
best regards
Mick

Do you have the de-interlace method set to "Blend"? It's on the Input tab. It blends the two fields of a frame.

You could just set the correct pixel aspect ratio in Cinegobs keyer. It's on the preview tab.

Offlinejust as a footnote – yes – adjusting the pixel aspect ratio setting does mean that the display is correct again – but now I find that it is ignored when rendering with Cinegobs!!!
it doesn't really matter though as I can (thankfully) re-set this in my editor
would be much simpler though if programmes in general just retained the file settings as they are

OfflineCineGobs keyer supports only the original specification of AVI, and there's no support for storing pixel aspect ratio. Creating my own .net libraries based on a newer AVI version + ODL would take me a lot of time and frankly I'd rather spend my available time on the keyer itself.
