OfflineHi, I made a video with this software, but I soon found myself unable to export a file. When I attempted to export the video, I received an error message that said: "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately.
Exception in AVIFileOpen: -2147221164."
I would like to use this software, but I find that anything I do does not change the fact that the only output I can get from the program is as a series of pictures, which I find useless because I have no way to splice the images into a video and add the sound. I would appreciate any help I can get in fixing this problem, and I assume I am doing something wrong since other people have obviously managed to export videos. I tried the tutorial, but I got the same result when I followed the same steps for a video. Please help me, as I would hate to have to try to find another software that allows for non standard background colors.

Which codec for compression do you select when exporting to a file? Have you tried expoting to uncompressed?

CineGobs keyer doesn't support sound. You'll have to add that using some other software. CineGobs keyer is designed as a standalone keyer, not as a video editor compositior etc.

I was using the standard AVI single file…
Yes, but what type of compression did you select when saving? I'm not able to recreate the problem myself.

OfflineI am not sure if this is what you mean, but when I hit the output and save button, I chose Video for Windows (*.avi). I do not recall anything about compression in the instructions. I am using version 2.2.4.113 if that helps. I have gone through the entire process without encountering a dialog box that even mentioned compression.

OfflineThe compression dialog pops up automatically when exporting the video.
Looks like this:

I loaded Cinegobs onto a different computer, and I think it is only incompatible with windows xp. If this is the case, I would like to know if there is another version of it compatible with windows xp instead of just Vista.
It works fine with Windows XP. Tons of people use it on Windows XP. I've just used it 5 minutes ago on Windows XP. There must be something wrong with your XP installation.
Are you using a standard 32 bit Windows XP? Have you installed all updates (especially .net updates)?
I have no idea why you have this problem. You could try reinstalling .net 2.0.

Offlinei'M STILL HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. CAN YOU TELL US IN PLAIN LANGUAGE WHAT EXACTLY DOES THAT ERROR MESSAGE MEAN? AND HOW DOES 1 GO ABOUT RESERVING IT. BECAUSE YOU GET THE ERROR MESSAGE SECONDS AFTER SELECTING "SAVE AND RENDER"; SO THAT EXPORT SCREEN NEVER COMES UP. I ADMIT I AM PRETTY MUCH A LAYMAN; I ONLY UNDERSTAND SO MUCH TECHNICAL TALK.

OfflineFirst of all, please stop SHOUTING.
Second why do you add your answer from an email conversation to a thread that has nothing to do with your problem?
Back to the problem:
You haven't giving me any information about your project. How many frames are your video?, is it HD/SD?, etc.
The error you get is at the exact moment the output file is created. Therefore there must be something wrong with the file name, or where you are trying to save the output.
Where are you saving the output?

OfflineSorry Bo. I wasn't intending to communicate shouting; sometimes I just type in all caps. I followed up this question because the error code that naw 1423 seem to get matches the one I am receiving and the issue at least as far as his situation on xp seemed to go unresolved. I did not see any other topics in the forum list that describe my situation as closely as this one which seems to be identical. Nonetheless, I did not mean to chime in.
To the matter at hand, my project is between 11 and 12,000 frames. To the best of my knowledge it is in standard definition. As to where I am trying to save the output, I have been trying to save it to one of the folders on my desktop.

OfflineThe error you get is really strange because it occurs when the output file is created, before anything is written to it. I haven't been able in any way to recreate that error.
Btw. With very long files you may get problems when rendering to .avi. The .avi interface used in Cinegobs keyer support avi files up to 4 gigabyte in size only. A better solution is to render to an image sequence (which has no limits) and either use that directly if possible or use some video conversion utility to convert it to an .avi file.
